Vicky + Nick | The Maynard

What can I say about these guys, from the get-go meeting them they were just lovely and great fun to chat with. I was already looking forward to documenting their day even more now and it was lovely to arrive at The Maynard on a beautiful bright sunny morning for the bridal prep. The usual mixture of carnage between make-up, hair, changing kiddies into outfits and drinking champagne but especially lovely to see Charlotte Elizabeth Bridal offering a personal touch to get Vicky into her dress. After bridal prep, I went to meet the chaps at The George and Dragon in Holmesfield which was conveniently just across the road from the church! A little visit from the vicar’s wife to hurry the chaps along to the church and it was soon time for the wedding to get into full flow with the cars arriving and a very proud dad walking Vicky into the church. A beautiful ceremony filled with loads of laughter and giggles from Vicky and Nick and even a couple of comedy moments from the best man dropping the rings to straddling the alter for the signing of the register while trying not to rip his trousers.

After the ceremony, Vicky and Nick were greeted by their dogs outside the church and then walked through one of the loveliest confetti tunnels I’ve witnessed this year with plenty of help in throwing the confetti from Vicky’s nephew. While everyone went back to The Maynard for the reception, I went with Vicky and Nick to get them some beautiful Peak District wedding portraits down at Padley Gorge which is literally a 2 minute’s drive from the venue. Often a busy place on a hot day and today was no exception but we managed to capture some lovely moments in some beautiful light which the guys love.

Back to The Maynard for the reception with drinks and games on the lawn before heading into the room for speeches and then the meal. A little surprise though between courses, organised by the parents of Nick and Vicky and something they had made sure to make me aware of, was a pair of singing waiters. It was both hilarious and entertaining watching Michael and Adam from The Undercover Waiters doing their thing to entertain the crowd.
