Simon + Sarah | Eyam Hall
It was so lovely to be chosen to be part of Simon + Sarah’s wedding day; I think we work in a really special industry as wedding suppliers and to be picked by someone who works in that same industry is lovely; FYI – Sarah makes cakes for weddings and does a very good job of it too! After meeting with Simon + Sarah on a video call quite a while ago it was clear that we all got along brilliantly, and even better to meet them in person for their pre-wedding shoot; which they absolutely smashed (I must blog their pre-wedding shoot!).
Simon + Sarah each got ready for their bridal and groom prep at The Rutland Arms in Bakewell which is a very charming hotel in The Peak District town famous for some of the most delicious puddings! I started off with Simon and his best man who were enjoying a much-needed pint of beer while getting dressed in the room just down the hallway from Sara. As soon as they were ready we nipped up the road to do a few portraits on the street that I had spotted earlier and thought it would work really nicely for them both, I really like how the portraits came out of the two of them. It was even more of a bonus as we were walking back to the hotel and Simon took a pause to wait for his best man right outside a bridal shop, something here felt like a level of the wedding irony in that Simon was stood outside of the wedding dress shop.! Once the chaps were back at the hotel it was time to jump in the Cadillac that they had to take them up to the venue.
I then went up to see Sarah and the bridesmaids and flower girls in the room we were having hair and make up done. It was such a lovely calm atmosphere and great to see the flower girls keeping tabs on what was going on outside, and has all the guests were starting to gather and congregate in readiness for heading up to Eyam Hall. It wasn’t long before Sarah was ready and to be honest it felt like bridal prep seem to go really quick at their wedding, Sarah wanted dad to see her all dressed up and ready for her big day so we did the first lockdown. Sarah’s dad was certainly incredibly smitten at the side of his beautiful daughter ready to make the journey together to Eyam Hall to marry Simon. It was so lovely again to see an outdoor ceremony at Eyam Hall, and I was greeted to the beautiful sounds of a violinist playing in the background as Simon welcomed all the guests to the wedding at Eyam Hall.
Sarah and her bridesmaids looked absolutely beautiful as they entered the garden through the small gate and walked across the grass to then come down the aisle to a slightly nervous-looking Simon. No sooner had he set eyes on Sarah than all those nerves seemed to subside and be replaced with a very smiling face, clearly very happy to see Sarah as her dad passed her hand across to Simon. The ceremony was beautiful and very special to see Sarah’s nephew there as the ringbearer and he did a fantastic job; after getting married in the beautiful afternoon sunshine Simon + Sarah were greeted back down the aisle with loads of confetti.
And after the wedding, it was time for plenty of hugs and kisses in celebration of their marriage, this is still a part of the day that I love to document and especially after the last couple of years, I think it’s so special that everyone is still able to embrace and pass on the fondness of each other. The drinks reception was very relaxed in the gardens at Eyam Hall, with plenty of people enjoying the afternoon sun and a violinist providing the entertainment along with some croquet. We did a few of the group portraits before using the beautiful gardens and field at the back of the hall for some portraits of Simon + Sarah just in time for heading into the wedding breakfast.
After the wedding breakfast, it was time to hear the speeches and such a great balance of humour and fondness was provided from all sides. There was a short break in proceedings while the dancefloor and DJ set up before we cut the cake and headed straight into the first dance. It was great to see everyone up on the dancefloor in this tipi reception and even better to see Sarah’s dad giving it his all on the floor. Thanks so much for letting me document your day Simon + Sarah.
