Sarah + Steve | The Plough Hathersage

Sarah and Steve got in touch with me to tell me about their wedding plans, they wanted something that was very relaxed and informal for their wedding day. With friends conducting their humanist ceremony at The Plough Inn at Hathersage. So not the usual full on shindig wedding spanning for 10-12 hours and instead they said that they just wanted some of the essentials covered over a few hours. So that they had the important parts (with plenty of the dogs/fur babies) all documented and something to look back at to remember the day by.

I met everyone on the terrace for a lovely drinks reception where Sarah and Steve were mingling with their guests before everyone was invited down to the sail cloth covered area by the river at The Plough. Sarah and Steve entered together greeted by lots of smiling faces and clapping before saying their vows in front of everyone. The ceremony conducted by a friend with family and loved ones watching them express their love and make their commitment to each other.

After the ceremony we wandered over to the lawned area below The Plough for some family photos and the all important confetti throw. Then Sarah and Steve had some important time alone with the doggies and we got some relaxed portraits of them all before heading back to have drinks with the guests. There were so many lovely little touches for the reception. Hand grown Oak Tree saplings ready for the guests to plant and a telephone to leave a message or two on for Sarah and Steve to listen to later. Along with Sarah using her Graphic Designer skills to make the pieces for the tables and even making all of the bunting hung up around the sail cloth canopy.

After a wonderful buffet everyone was treated to some fantastic music with Steve using his expertise and love of music to curate some of his favourite UK folk artists from his time spent in York. I have to say as someone who loves music themselves it was a bit of a treat to listen while I got to photograph and document people laughing, listening and just soaking up the beautiful atmosphere.

I left everyone to the music after I had covered what Sarah and Steve wanted from their wedding photography and I know they had a lovely evening having spoken with them since.
