Sam + Sammy | Hathersage Church
Sam + Sammy’s day was to date one of the most chilled and relaxed weddings I have had the pleasure of documenting to date. I’ve known and seen both Sam + Sammy at quite a few weddings over the years as they have been part of the bride and groom entourage. Another (like so many this year) postponed (and postponed again, and again) Covid wedding but it came at just the right time avoiding all the restrictions and allowing them and their guests to have an amazing time.
The day started with some bridal prep at Sam + Sammy’s home where she was surrounded by mum and her bridesmaids. There were loads going on with hair and makeup, fizz flowing and the kids happily watching some Peter Rabbit – which I love watching as my daughter’s a big fan! I stayed with the bridal party for dad’s first look as well which was beautiful, 2 of the bridesmaids opened the curtains into the conservatory to reveal Sammy to dad. I loved, love, loved the reactions from everyone here.
After bridal prep, it was time to race over to Hathersage Church to meet Sam and the groomsmen as well as documenting the arrival of the guests. Sam looking a little nervous but clearly blown away by how beautiful Sammy was looking as she arrived at the altar with dad. I love seeing the outward emotion from people at a wedding and Sam didn’t disappoint!
After the wedding and a quick confetti tunnel (I love confetti tunnels), Sam and Sammy jumped in their luxurious Rolls Royce for us to head off for couples portraits. Sam & Sammy who both really enjoy walks in the Peak District had their hearts set on going to Carhead Rocks if the weather allowed and thankfully it did. We got some pretty epic portraits up on this beautiful moorland which overlooks Hathersage.
Then it was back to a private field with tipi’s set up from the fantastic Prestige Events. It was great to see Sam and Sammy arrive to have all their guests waiting to welcome them to the reception where they had some seriously tasty canapes! The reception had such a chilled vibe with people chatting and catching up, a bouncy castle for everyone (and yes the adults were all over this one) and Laylo magician wowing people. Sam and Sammy were also really clear that they didn’t want to do loads of lineup photos, instead, I was just available for them to get some photos with close friends and family when they wanted one. Of course, this was on top of my documentary style of capturing the day.
Then we moved into the evening with all of the amazing dancing, my favourite bit and a great way to end the night! Anyway enough from me, have a watch of their photo highlights video below or you can always scroll through the images underneath. Enjoy.
