Sam + Sam | Hathersage
What a gorgeous day it was from start to finish for Sam + Sam’s wedding. The day started with bridal prep at Sam and Sam’s house, it was such a lovely chilled atmosphere and rooms flooded with gorgeous light. It was lovely to see Josie Marie Hair again creating her usual beautiful bridal hairstyles. Prep seemed to be filled with plenty of laughter and even a funny call from the groom Sam.
After Sam was ready in her dress we did a first look with the bridesmaids (and a peeking nephew) before getting mum and dad together. Needless to say that there were some emotional reactions to how beautiful Sam looked at the top of the stairs in her dress.
After the emotion, I hot-footed it to Hathersage Church to document the arrivals and we even managed to get Oliver to have a quick photo with dad, Sam. It was a gorgeous ceremony and Oliver did a superb job as chief ring bearer for Sam and Sam’s rings. After walking down the aisle it was time for what seemed like a million hugs from their nearest and dearest. I still love documenting this part of the day so much, after a couple of years of people not being able to hug, kiss and just show their affection to couples. I think it’s so important to capture and cherish.
We did a few group shots and then straight into the confetti walk, so much confetti, seriously, there were LOADS! And that is just how it should be in my opinion; you can never ever have too much confetti for me. It was hilarious looking back at the photos to see Sam dodge the huge inbound basket full of confetti and let Samantha and Oliver take the hit. A very funny part of the day indeed.
Everyone walked back from Hathersage Church down to Bank House which Sam and Sam had got entirely for the wedding as a private event. The joys of owning a stunning bar + restaurant. It was very much like Costa del Hathersage, between the drink on the terrazzo vibe and the flag-cracking sun that didn’t leave us at all that day!
Sam and Sam wanted a super relaxed vibe and that’s exactly what they had. An amazing buffet of food upstairs in the restaurant for people to help themselves to as they wanted (it was delicious by the way; I might have sampled a pork pie or two). There were even entertainers there for the children and a magician who was making jaws drop and defying logic for so many guests.
I whisked Sam and Sam away to a nearby field for some super relaxed couples portraits and these guys absolutely rocked their shoot. We spent a short time there (I don’t like to keep my couples away from their guests and the party for too long) before heading back to everyone.
The evening food was fish and chips from the local chippy. Sam and Sam had got chips and fish bites for all the guests to go and grab as they pleased. Something to make sure they had enough energy to hit the dancefloor inside. Sam and Sam started off the party with a beautiful first dance. The story from there on pretty much consists of dancing, shots, dancing, shots, dancing… you get the idea.
Anyway enough from me, have a watch of their photo highlights video below or you can always scroll through the images underneath. Enjoy.
