Frances + Dan | Sitwell Arms
What a wonderful wedding day this one was for Frances and Dan. I remember meeting this lovely pair of humans at Gabi and Alex’s wedding at Peak Edge back in August last year, they both wanted to book me based on how I had been on the day and for the photos that came out of it. So this wedding story began at Birchover Bridgford Hall where the whole bridal party were getting ready, Frances and her bridesmaids upstairs with Dan and his groomsmen downstairs so there was no chance of them bumping in to each other. Such a lovely venue to get ready in with loads of natural light flooding in through the windows. The chaps having a few dressing issues with cufflink holes in shirts and sewn up pockets but thankfully all was dealt with without any accidents!
After a lovely first look with dad, Frances drove with him in her Grandfather’s Vintage Car! A trip across town to St Michael & All Angels Church for the ceremony. After a little phone call or two in the car park to find out where Granny was, arriving fashionably late, which meant Frances, her dad and the bridesmaids got to walk up to the church with Granny; something that brought a little bit of extra humour to the day. After a lovely ceremony and plenty of congratulatory hugs it was time for the confetti walk, Dixie the best man taking advantage of having a full box of confetti in hand; although I feel like he held back a little. We grabbed a natural break to capture some group photos that Frances and Dan wanted with their nearest and dearest before heading up the road to capture some couples portraits of the new Mr and Mrs.
Frances and Dan had chosen the Sitwell Arms at Horsley Woodhouse for their reception as it’s somewhere that is close to their hearts and owned by friends of theirs. What a lovely Summer atmosphere it was when we arrived with a massive Paella underway giving off a mouth watering aroma. You were never more than 6 feet away from one of the many delicious canapés that were on offer as well. Everyone enjoying a good drink, plenty of chat and laughter as well as a few games and shots going on. After the meal it was time for the speeches. All were lovely, to the point and heartfelt, I always love listening to the speeches, especially when they’re so entertaining like they were here.
After that it was essentially a big party, loads of dancing, the cutting of the cake and not forgetting fun on the bouncy castles outside! More from the kids than the adults of course. All complete with one of Dan’s friends teaching the wedding party the Candy dance, it was a fun dance floor that’s for sure and if you’ve seen me photograph a wedding you know that’s my fave part of the day. Before I left I got a few photos of Dan and some of the guys being the lucky recipients of some delicious Acid Kuba Kuba cigars to smoke! Anyway enough from me, have a watch of their photo highlights video below or you can always scroll through the images underneath. Enjoy.
