Sunshine, Showers & Champagne: Emma + Doug’s Relaxed Peak District Wedding

Some wedding days feel like they pack in every season in one go – and Emma and Doug’s wedding was exactly that. From sunshine to showers and back again (several times!), their day had a bit of everything… and it was brilliant from start to finish.

The Ceremony at St Barnabus Church, Bradwell

The day began at the lovely St Barnabus Church in Bradwell, where Emma and Doug tied the knot in front of their family and friends. The church setting was as warm and welcoming as the couple themselves, and it set the tone perfectly for the celebrations to come.

A Reception at The Blind Bull, Hucklow

After the “I do’s,” everyone headed over to The Blind Bull in Hucklow – a brilliant spot for a relaxed countryside wedding reception. The drinks were flowing (champagne on tap no less!), and the canapés were a huge hit. Guests spilled out into the gardens, where garden games kept both kids and grown-ups entertained between the showers.

The Weather Rollercoaster

It’s fair to say the Peak District weather had its fun with us that day. We had glorious sunshine one minute, heavy showers the next, before being treated to a finale of blazing sun. Luckily, Emma and Doug took it all in their stride, and the laughter never stopped – whatever the skies decided to do.

Nellie (and Her Very Own Beer)

Of course, it wouldn’t be Emma and Doug’s wedding without their much-loved dog, Nellie, making an appearance. Not only did she charm everyone, but she even had her own beer – a little detail that summed up the fun, personal touches running through the day.

Music, Speeches & Garden Games

A wedding singer kept the atmosphere buzzing throughout the afternoon, and the speeches hit that perfect balance of heartfelt and hilarious. As the sun broke out again later, the party vibes only got stronger – it was a day full of joy, smiles, and the kind of memories that last a lifetime.

Emma and Doug’s wedding was everything you’d want from a relaxed countryside celebration: plenty of fun, oodles of laughter, some wonderfully unpredictable weather, and a couple who couldn’t stop smiling. It was a total joy to be part of their day and to capture it all. Anyway enough from me, have a watch of their photo highlights video below or you can always scroll through the images underneath. Enjoy.
