Charles + Victoria | The Barrel Inn

A bloomin’ marvellous wedding if I say so myself!! I remember being lucky enough to capture Charle’s brother and sister-in-laws wedding (Tom + Maddie) up at The Barrel Inn back in 2018. So to be chosen to photograph for Charles and Victoria was a wonderful feeling. The day started at their home with Victoria and her side of the bridal party all getting ready in a really nice chilled environment and I was struck with how lovely a home they both have. Tons of natural light coming in to each room plus Victoria and her bridesmaids dresses looked lush hung up on the wardrobes in some great light from a Velux window.

It was lovely watching the reactions on all the flower girls faces as well while they watched Victoria getting into the final stages of her dress (which was beautiful by the way) before heading downstairs for her dad to see. I zipped down the road to the church at Calver to meet up with Charles and his chaps with Charles his usual calm and collected self, I mean he would be with his best man at his side who also happens to be his best friend and also his Brother, Tom. The church service was lovely and I managed to capture everything I needed to from my designated place at the back and side of the church. The service was complete with a Gospel singer who was absolutely amazing and it was great to see everyone clapping and joining in too.

Charles and Victoria left the church and waited to receive hugs and well wishes from the congregation, it was one of the longest lines of hugs I’ve seen this year I think, I didn’t think it was going to end at one point. What was even better is all these people also made the longest confetti tunnel for them too, plus there was plenty of confetti to go around, which always makes for a great experience and even better photos for these two.

We left the church to head for The Barrel Inn for the reception, the pub being the family business for Charles’s side of the family and I just knew it was going to be a great reception and party! The weather was perfect which meant everyone could be outside enjoying drinks and canapés while we did a few group photos which included borrowing Charles and Victoria for a few couples portraits with the amazing views that you get when you’re up at The Barrel Inn. It reminded me I am long overdue going up there for some mouth watering wholesome food and a good drink (one for the off-season I think).

Uncle Edward, as he was at Tom + Maddie’s wedding, doing a brilliant job as the Master of Ceremonies and making sure the various tables were taking drinks with Charles and Victoria. Each table had a guest to be dedicated as the Sommelier to pour the champagne too which I thought was a nice touch, plenty of people relishing at the opportunity. As ever some wonderful singing from Holly Victoria (who was also doubling up as a Bridesmaid) between the courses; doing a great job in an unseasonably hot marquee while the chefs working hard to get a huge array of starters, mains and desserts out to a huge host of guests before everyone’s glasses were charged ready for the speeches. A great set of speeches from everyone with plenty of laughter.

Then it was pretty much into the evening party and looking back on the images while editing them it was clear to see that everyone was having a great time. Charles had a lot of his rugby team along and you could see the camaraderie and fun these guys were bringing to the day too. A first dance followed by music from the phenomenal Detroit Soul Collective and Piñatas that looked like Charles and Victoria, Charles being the top Uncle he is an making sure his nieces could get into his to crack out the goodies! There was some amazing food outside with some tasty local treats from The Ginger Butchers, Pin Private Thai and Mimmo’s pizza, put it this way no one was going hungry today!! Anyway enough from me, have a watch of their photo highlights video below or you can always scroll through the images underneath. Enjoy.

Thanks a million for having me along to document your day Charles and Victoria!
